Satuin olemaan Helsingissä Mannerheimintiellä, kun Elokapinan protesti marssi tuli kohdalle. Olihan se näky. Nyt he kävelevät rauhallisesti huutaen iskulauseita, mutta pidemmälle päästyään he tukkivat katuja ja aiheuttivat liikennekaaoksen. Sadesää ei varmaan ollut kivaa.
I happened to be in the center of Helsinki when the Elokapina protest march arrived. It was a sight.
They are protesting against the government's climate targets. It was a really rainy day.
Now they were peaceful shouting slogans, but later they sat in the street and caused a traffic jam.
The police stopped the riot.
Extinction Rebellion is a UK-founded global environmental movement, with the stated aim of using nonviolent civil disobedience to compel government action to avoid tipping points in the climate system, biodiversity loss, and the risk of social and ecological collapse.
Extinction Rebellion uses high arrest rates as a way to gain attention.Here in Finland they (Elokapina in Finnish) block our streets in the city center and paint walls of public buildings. They cause a lot of trouble, even if the cause they are defending is good.
The end does not always justify the means!

Suhtaudun ristiriitaisin tuntein näihin Elokapinan mielenosoituksiin. Ymmärrän hyvän tavoitteen. Mutta toteutuksen suhteen olen itse pehmeämmän toiminnan kannalla. Mutta he tekevät, mitä parhaaksi kokevat.
