Olen ollut tosi kipeä. Sain flunssan yli pari viikkoa sitten, joka muuttui keuhkokuumeeksi. Nukuin ja yskin keuhkot pihalle. Nyt alkaa tuntua terveeltä, mutta kunto on tosi rapainen. 

Olen tehnyt muutaman pienen kävelylenkin lähiseudulla, ja huomasin, että kevät on tullut. Joka puolella on pieniä kukkia ja pensaissa ja puissa näkyy kevään vihreyttä. Tosin sää on vielä tosi, tosi kylmää. 

I've been really sick. I got pneumonia a couple of weeks ago. I slept and coughed my lungs out. 

I'm starting to feel better now, but I'm really in a bad shape.

 I've taken a few short walks around the area, and I noticed that spring has arrived. There are small flowers everywhere and spring greenery on the bushes and trees. Although the weather is still really, really cold.

Veteenmeno / Going into the water

 

Melkein kuin kesä, paitsi että tänään oli tosi kylmää. Joinakin vuonna tähän aikaan on ollut vielä lunta.

Almost like summer, except today it was really cold. Some years at this time there has been still snow.

Kaksi reipasta ystävätärtäni meni uimaan - kuten lähes joka päivä. Vesi oli n. 3 °C, eli tosi kylmää.

My two dashing friends went swimming - like they do almost every day. 

The water was about 3 °C, which is really cold.

No, itseasiassa he vain kastautuivat. Mutta sekin olisi minulle liikaa.

Well, actually, they were just wetting themselves. But even that would be too much for me.

Auringonpalvojia odotellessa. Tuolit ovat tainneet olla koko talven tuossa ja nyt alkavat vapautua.

Waiting for sun worshipers. The chairs might be there all winter and now they’re starting to reveal.

Öisin on vielä pakkasta, joten lumi sulaa hitaasti, vaikka päivällä on plussaa.

It’s still frosty at night, so the snow melts slowly, although there are degrees of heat during the day.

Näitä pyöriä, jotka on lumihangessa olleet kauan, näkee aina silloin tällöin vieläkin.

These bikes, which have been in the snow for a long time, can still be seen every now and then.

They are breaking snow and ice. This allows the snow to melt faster.

Kaksi eriasteista rantaa / Two different beaches

Kivenlahden ranta on vielä umpijäässä, mutta sinne ei ole enää menemistä. 

Kivenlahti beach is still frozen, it is such a narrow bay. but you can't walk there anymore.

But yes, it will melt in time.

Ajelin Haukilahteen, 10 km päähän toiselle rannalle ja siellä avomeri olikin jo sulana, 

kuulin jopa laineiden liplatusta. Ihanan sinistä ja keväistä.

 

I drove to Haukilahti, 10 km to another beach and there the open sea was already melted, 

I even heard the fluttering of the waves. Lovely blue and so spring feeling.

 

Vesieste / Water barrier

 

Vesieste. Onneksi tuossa sivulla on kuiva kaistale, jota pitkin pääsi läpi.

Yöt pakkasella, aamut vielä liukkaita, mutta päivällä lumi sulaa, lämpöä ollut jopa 6-8 C.

Water barrier. Fortunately, there is a dry strip on the edge along which I got through.

Nights in the frost, mornings still slippery, but during the day the snow melts, the heat was even 6-8 C.

Lumikasat on vielä paikoitellen mahtavat, eikä ne taida sulaa hetkessä.

The piles of snow are still awesome in places, and they don't seem to melt in an instant.

Yöllä pakkasta, päivällä pikkuisen lämpöasteita. Ja tätä jatkuu...

Night frosts, daytime plus degrees. And this continues ...

Liukasta. On ennenkin ollut liukkaita talvia, mutta sentäs teitä on hiekoitettu. 

Nyt hiekka-autoja ei näy missään. Ihmiset liukastelee ja osa jättää ehkä ulkoilemisenkin.

Slippery. There have been slippery winters before, but the streets have been sanded.

Now sand cars don’t show up anywhere. People slip and some don’t go out at all.

Sulaa se sittenkin - jossain kohdin. Taitaa olla talvella aurattu pyöräkaista, joka sulaa nyt nopeammin.

Melt it anyway - somewhere. 

There is probably a bike lane that was plowed in the winter and now melts faster.

Tämä jäinen ylämäki tuli yllättäen vastaan. 

Ei ollut toivoakaan kävellä sitä pitkin, vaan piti talloa sivussa lumihangessa.

This icy uphill came unexpectedly. There was no hope of walking along it,

I had to walk in the snow on the side of the road.

Tässä on kevään tuntua. Paikoitellen on maa näkyvissä.. jippii.

Here is the feel of spring. In some places the ground is visible .. Jippii.

Pinkkiä unelmaa / Pink dream

 

Nämä puhkes ihan silmissä kukkaan. Meillä Kivenlahdessa on aika monta kirsikkapuuta siellä täällä.

Lämpökin on ihan kesälukemissa, tänään 21 °C.

We have several cherry trees in Kivenlahti. These flowers opened overnight. 

The heat is in the summer readings, today 21 °C.

Kevät saapui vihdoinkin / Spring finally arrived

Kevät tuli yhdessä yössä ja vihreys kasvoi silmissä. Tänään oli lämpöä 20 °C.

Spring came in one night and greenery grew in the eyes. Today here was 20 °C.

Kävelin ristiin rastiin Kivenlahtea ja nautin vihdoinkin keväästä ja lämmöstä.

I walked around Kivenlahti and finally got to enjoy spring and warmth.

Lunta näkyvissä. / Snow in sight.

Viikonloppuna olin lenkillä Malminkartanossa (Helsinki), jossa mm. oli talvella suuri lumensiirtovuori. 

Tästä on edelleen jäljellä laaja alue likaista lunta.

I was walking in weekend in Malminkartano (Helsinki) where was in winter a huge snow collection site. 

This is still left a large area of dirty snow.

Kevät on aika ruma ruskea vuodenaika, ennenkuin vihreät lehdet pukkaa esiin.

Spring is a pretty ugly brown season before green leaves appear.
