Oittaan ulkoilualue / Outdoor recreation area

Toinen ulkoilualue eli Oittaa, Bodomin järven rannalla Espoossa.

Second outdoor recreation area on the shore of Lake Bodom in Espoo.

Just sopiva ulkoilusää, ei liian kylmää.

The temperature is just right, not too cold for outdoor activities.

Maalaismaisemia / Landscapes

 

Espoo, Suomen toiseksi suurin kaupunki. Tuli metro ja joka aemalle rakenetaan tiiviisti korkeita taloja, ja toisaalta löytyy ihan läheltä (n. 10 km) näin upeita maalaismaisemia. Toisinaan tulee mieleem, että pitää lähteä tuhlamaan kallista bensiiniä ja ajella ihan huvikseen.

Espoo, Finland's second largest city. We got the metro and high-rise buildings are built close to each station, and on the other hand, you can find such wonderful country landscapes very close by (ab. 10 km from my home). Sometimes it occurs to me that I have to go and waste expensive gasoline and drive just for fun.

Ulkoilua / Outdoor activities

 

Vietin päivää ulkoilukeskuksessa (Pirttimäki Espoossa). 

Paljon oli hiihtäjiä, itse tyydyin vain kävelemään.

I spent a day at the outdoor center (Pirttimäki in Espoo). 

There were a lot of skiers, I was content to just walk.

Lunta! / Snow!

 

Talvi on ovela, saatiin taas roppakaupalla lunta, vaikka pari päivää sitten sitä ei ollut enää.

Winter is cunning. We got an awful lot of snow again, 

although a couple of days ago it wasn't there anymore.

Vesille mieleni tekevi.

Lunta on tullut lisää, ei se kevät vielä alkanutkaan. Päivä oli vaihteeksi aurinkoinen. ei pilven hattaraakaan. Ajelin toiselle rannalle (Haukilahti), jotain 10 km päähän, jossa, yllätys-yllätys, olikin jo sininen avomeri. Oli fantastista kävellä ja tajuta, että kyllä se kevät kuitenkin tulee, vaikka välillä tulisi lisää lunta. Päivät on jo huomattavasti pidempiä, eikä pakkastakaan ole juuri ollenkaan.

More snow has fallen, we are still waiting for spring. The day was sunny, not even a cloud of cotton candy. I drove to another beach (Haukilahti), about 10 km away, where, surprise-surprise, there was already blue open sea. It was fantastic to walk and to realize that spring will come after all, even if there will be more snow from time to time. The days are already considerably longer, and there is almost no frost.

Ihmisiä ulkona / People outside

 

Välillä jopa aurinkokin ilmestyy. Ja silloin on kiva kävellä (ja kuvata salaa ihmisiä).

Sometimes you can even see the sun. And then it's nice to walk (and covertly photograph people).

Aurinko on matalalla ja silloin on pitkät varjot.

The sun is low and the shadows are long.

Talven loppu? / The end of winter?

Ollaan vasta helmikuun alussa, jolloin pitäisi olla kunnon talvi lumineen ja pakkasineen. 

Mutta nyt jää sulaa, maat on lumettomia jne. 

Ihanaa, taitaa tulla aikainen kevät (luultavasti on toiveajattelua? ...tietenkin saadaan lisää lunta). 

It's only the beginning of February, when it should be a proper winter with snow and frost. 

But now the ice is melting, the lands are snow-free etc. Wonderful, it seems like early spring arrive

 (I think this might be wishful thinking? of course we'll get more snow some day).

Metsäpolulle ei ole menemistä, on paikoitellen todella liukasta. Jätin suosiolla väliin.

There is no way to go on the forest path, it is really slippery in places.

I turned around and didn't walk there.

Lumettomalla polulla on hyvä kävellä.

It's good to walk on a path without snow.
