Maalauspuuhaa / Painting

Hyvin tumma seinä olohuoneessa maalattiin vaaleanharmaaksi. 

A very dark wall in the living room was painted light gray.

Nyt uuden kodin seiniä on maalattu ja sinne on kuljetettu tavaroita. Eli minun aika on mennyt kokonaan tähän. Uskon, että siitä tulee kiva koti, jahka saan kaikki tavarat sinne ja ne myös järjestykseen. Joitain huonekaluja oli pakko myydä, sillä eihän kaksioon niin paljon mahdu (nyt asun vielä kolmiossa). Virve ja Matti tuli Sveitsistä auttamaan maalauksessa, sillä siellä on pääsiäisloma. Matti (17 v) on hyvä remonttimies. Naapurit ja poikani on ollut kivoja ja auttaneet kantamisessa, kun Virve ja Matti lähtivät takaisin kotiin. Vielä on "miljoona" tavaraa pakkaamatta. Tämä on aika väsyttävää, muutin viimeksi 32 vuotta sitten, joten tämä ei ole aivan rutiininomainen juttu.

The walls of the new home are now painted and some things have been moved in. I think this will become a nice home, as long as I'll get all the things in there and organize them. I had to sell some furniture because there is not enough space in the one-bedroom apartment (I still live in a two-bedroom apartment now). Virve and Matti came from Switzerland to help with the painting, because it was Easter holiday there. Matti (17 years old) is a really good renovator. The neighbors and my son have been nice and helped with the moving when Virve and Matti flew back to their home. At least "a million" things are still to be packed and the furniture will be moving the end of the month. This is tiring, I last moved 32 years ago, so this is not exactly a routine thing.

Kesärenkaat on vaihdettu ja samalla pesetin auton (se oli aika likainen).

The summer tires have been changed and I washed the car at the same time (it was pretty dirty).

Yli vuoden kestänyt asunnonmyyntini on nyt tullut päätöksen, vihdoin oli ostaja, joka ei tinkinyt hirveesti.

On pahin mahdollinen aika myydä asuntoa, hinnat ovat hirveän alhaalla. Mutta pakko mikä pakko. Virallinen myyntisopimus tehdään pankissa tämän kuun puolen välin jälkeen. Saan muuttoaikaa 15.5. asti.

Ja löysin jopa uuden vuokra-asunnon tästä läheltä, söpö kaksio. Pääsen sinne jo huhtikuussa tekemään jotain maalaushommaa ja vähän siivoomaan (vaikka se on ihan siistissä kunnossa), mutta virallinen muutto- ja vuokra-aika alkaa 1.5.

The sale of my apartment that has lasted over a year has now come to an end, finally there was a buyer who didn't bargain terribly. It's the worst possible time to sell an apartment, prices are terribly low. But I had to. The official sales contract will be drawn up at the bank after the middle of this month. I can live here until May 15th to move in the new place.

And I even found a new rental apartment close to here, a cute two-room apartment. I'll be able to get there in already April to do some painting and a little cleaning (although it's in very good condition), but the official move-in and rental start May 1st.

Meidän vesialtaalle on tuuli tuonut vastarannalta hirveän paljon olkia. En ole ennen nähnyt.

The wind has brought a lot of straw from the opposite bank to our strand. I've never seen anything like it before.

Terassikausi avattu Huopalahdessa. Tosin päivät on olleet aika kylmiä auringosta huolimatta.

The terrace season has opened. Although the days have been quite cold despite the sun.

Pikkuhiljaa tarkenee istua ulkosalla.

Sitting outside is gradually becoming more comfortable.

Mutta sitten vasta tuntuu keväältä, kun kaikki talven hiekoitushiekat on lakaistu pois.

But then it only feels like spring when all the winter sand (thrown in to make streets non slippery) has been swept away.

 

Jää sulaa / The ice is melting

Muutamassa päivässä tuli lähes kevät. Lämpötila n 3-5 °C ja jää sulaa silmissä. 

Sai jopa vaihtaa kevyemmät vaatteet, on mukavampi kävellä. 

In a few days, spring was almost here. The temperature is around 3–5 °C and the ice is melting in your eyes. I even got to change into lighter clothes, it's more comfortable to walk.

Niemen toisella puolella on enempi jäätä, ja yksi uskalias on liitämässä luistimilla jäällä.

There is more ice on the other side of the peninsula, and one daredevil is skating on the ice.

 

Ylösalaisin / Upside down

 

Sumua / Foggy

 

Jäällemeno ei enää houkuta. Lämpö nousee, lumi sulaa ja on sumuista. Jää kyllä kantaa vielä, mutta pinnalla on paljon vettä.

Going out on the ice is no longer appealing. 

The temperature is rising, the snow is melting and it's foggy.

There is still strong ice, but there is a lot of water on the surface.

Parissa päivässä tuli lämpöasteita, tänäänkin +3°C.  

Nyt on kaikkein inhoittavin vuodenaika. Loskaa, märkää ja likaista. Mutta ei se talvi tähän lopu.

In a couple of days the temperature rose, today it was +3°C.

Now is the most disgusting time of year. Slushy, wet and dirty. But winter doesn't end here.

Enpäs kulkenut tästä, kengät olisi kastuneet. Etsin toisen reitin poispääsylle. 

Rannat ovat märkiä, vaikka alla on vahva jää.

I wouldn't have walked this way, my shoes would have gotten wet. I looked for another route to get out. The shores are wet, even though there is strong ice underneath.

Purjelentäjä / Sail pilot

 

Kiva aurinkoinen päivä, pakkastakin vain -4 C. Tosin tuuli oli aika kova. 

Uutta luntakin saatiin, ja jäällä ei sitten ollut yhtään kunnon polkua.

A nice sunny day, only -4 C even though the wind was quite strong.

We also got new snow, and there were no proper paths on the ice.

Jäin seuraamaan kahta purjelentäjää, jotka kalliolla koittivat saada tuulen alleen.

I stayed behind to follow two sail pilots who were trying to catch the wind on the cliff.

Ja onnistuivat. / And they succeeded.

Ja laskeuduttuaan he kapusivat reippaasti takaisin ylös.

And after landing, they rose briskly back up.

Kalliolla / On the rock

Vaihteeksi kävelin kalliolla. Täällä mäet saattaa olla liukkaita, ainakin muhkuraisia. 

Siksi täällä on hankalampi kävellä.

For a change, I walked on the rock. The hills here can be slippery, or at least bumpy. 

That's why it's harder to walk here.

On ollut jo reilusti yli kuukausi yhtä soittoa kylmää eli pakkasta -10 ... -15 °C. 

Se haittaa valokuvien ottamista, sormet jäätyy.

It's been cold for well over a month now, -10 ... -15 °C.

It's making it hard to take photos, my fingers are freezing.
