Talvipäivä Helsingissä / Winter day in Helsinki

 

Piipahdus Helsingissä. Oli kylmä ja tuulinen päivä, joten ei tehnyt mieli olla kauemmin kuin oli pakko. 

Muutaman kuvan sentään ehdin ottaa.

I went to Helsinki. It was a cold and windy day, so I didn't feel like staying longer than I had to. 

I managed to take a few pictures anyway.

Kylmän päivän ilta / A cold day's evening

 

On pirun kylmää (-13 C), ulkona ei todellakaan tee mieli olla kauan. Aurinko laskee nopeasti jo n. 15.30, jolloin tulee täyspimeetä. Saa olla aika nopea, jotta ehtisi kuvata auringon laskeutumassa 

(minä en ole nopea, olen aina liian myöhään liikkeellä..)

It is very cold (-13 C). I really don't feel like being outside for long time. The sun sets quickly already around 3:30 p.m., and then it's completely dark. You have to be pretty fast so you have time to photograph the setting sun (I'm not fast, I always leave home too late..)

Lumi teki sumun / The snow made fog

Lumi on sulannut jäiseksi pinnaksi. Eli on melko liukasta.

The snow has melted to a frozen surface. That is, it's quite slippery.

Kiva kapea sumu nousi hetkeksi vastarannalle ennen auringonlaskua.

A nice narrow mist rose for a while on the opposite shore before sunset.

Vilkaisen vielä taakseni, eli jätän rannan ja kuljen kohti kotia.

I glance behind me, which means I leave the beach and walk towards home.

Joko talvi saapui? / Either winter arrived?

Saatiin talvi ja lunta. Ja lisää lunta on luvassa.

Pakkasta on n. -2 C, mutta esim Lapissa on ollut jo -30 C.

We got winter and snow. And more snow is on the way.

The frost in South-Finland (where I live) is about -2 C, but for example in Lapland (Northern Finland) it has already been -30 C.  I think it would be terrible, but people who live in the north are probably used to the cold.

Putkirempan aiheuttama sekasotku kadulla on saatu jo lähes siivottua. Tuntuu oudolta.

The mess on the street caused by the pipe repair has almost been cleaned up. Feels strange.

 

Helsingissä 2 / Ovia - Doors

Tällä kertaa löysin paljon uusia jykeviä ovia. / I found a lot of new massive doors in Helsinki.

Tällä alueella (Töölö) on myös ihanan värikkäitä taloja.

In this area (Töölö) there are also lovely colored houses.

Ja sitten kaiken ihanan vanhan keskellä on tälläinen hirvitys. En tiedä, mitä tässä talossa on.

And then in the middle of all the beautiful old houses there is this kind monstrosity. I don't know what's in this house.

Helsingissä

 

Tuli käytyä taas Helsingissä, nyt Töölössä, eli eri puolella keskustaa kuin normaalisti.

I visited Helsinki again, now in Töölö, on a different side of the city center than usual.

Sitä miettii, että hieman kauempana keskustasta kaupunki on tyhjä näin keskellä päivää.

The views make you think that a little further from the center the city is empty in the middle of the day.

Muutaman ihmisen sentään näin, hyvä.

At least I saw a few people, that's good.

Entinen rautatieuoma, josta tehtiin vuosia sitten pyöräbaana. Nyt en tosin nähnyt yhtään pyöräilijää.

A former railway, which was turned into a bike lane years ago. Now, though, I didn't see any cyclists.

Lippulaivan kirjasto / Library

 

Joskus kameran kanssa Lippulaivan kirjastossa. On tämä vaan niin parasta koko ostoskeskuksessa.

Sometimes with a camera in the library of Lippulaiva. This is the best thing in the whole mall.

Valokuvauskilpailu / Photo contest

 

En ole juuri osallistunut valokuvauskilpailuihin. Eli ensimmäisen ja ainoan kerran oli 10 vuotta sitten. 

Nyt osallistuin ja sain kolmannen palkinnon kuvasarjassa. Jippii, olin hurjan iloinen ja tämä menestys nosti valokuvausintoani. Aiheena oli "vesi" ja sarjoja oli "mustavalkoiset", "väri" ja "kuvasarjat". Osallistuin vain kuvasarjaan. Vuosi sitten liityin "Soukan kamerat" -seuraan, ja siellä kuukausitapaamisissa saa paljon inspiraatioita ja tietoa kuvauksesta. Kuva on julkistamistilaisuudesta.

I haven't really entered photography contests. The first and only time was 10 years ago. Now I participated and got the third prize in the photo series. Yippee, I was wildly happy and this success boosted my photography enthusiasm. The topic was "water" and the series were "black and white", "color" and "picture series". I only participated in the photo series. A year ago, I joined the "Soukka's cameras" -club, and there at the monthly meetings you can get a lot of inspiration and information about photography. The picture is from the announcement event.
