Lumetonta / Snowless

Lumet on liki sulaneet, ainoastaan merellä on vielä ohut kerros jäätä. 

Onkohan toiveajattelua, että talvi oli hyvin lyhyt.

The snow has almost melted in southern Finland, only a thin layer of ice remains on the sea.

Kiinalainen tapahtuma / Chinese event

 

Eilen Hesassa ollessa osuin Kampissa avattavan Kiinalaisen Uudenvuoden juhlinnan valmisteluihin. En jäänyt odottamaan H-hetkeä (olisi ollu vajaa kolme tuntia luppoaikaa). Mutta kojut oli jo valmiina, ja valoja ripusteltiin. Ja sää oli aika kamala.

I was in Helsinki yesterday and saw the preparations for the Chinese New Year celebration. I didn't wait for the big moment (there would have been almost three hours of waiting). But the stalls were already ready, and lights were being hung. And the weather was pretty terrible.

Kaunis lumi suli. Jäljellä on lähes peilikirkas merenjää. 

Itse en menisi tuonne, mutta pilkkijät menee.

The beautiful snow melted. There is almost mirror-clear sea ice left.

I wouldn't go there myself, but ice-fishers do.

Aurinkoa ja lunta / Sun and snow

 

Pari päivää saimme iloita auringosta.

We enjoyed the sun for a couple of days.

Lisää lunta / More snow

Eilen satoi lisää lunta... ja paljon. Edellinen satsi oli jo melkein sulannut. 

Nyt näyttää tosi kauniilta, kun on muhkeat lumikerrostumat ja pakkasta n. -8 °C.

We got much more snow again, the previous one had already almost melted. 

Now the landscape is beautiful. Temperature approx. -8 C. 

Kolme puuta / Three trees

 

Kolme kirsikkapuuta rantaraitin varrella. 

Ties kuinka monta kuvaa olen näistäkin ohimennessä ottanut.

I wonder how many pictures I've taken of these as I pass by.

Lunta ja kylmää /Snow and cold

Meri on jäässä, talvi tuli. Pakkasta n –5 ... –8 °C, on kylmää ennen kuin pakkaseen tottuu.

The sea is frozen, winter has arrived. The frost ab. -5 ... -8 °C, it's cold until you get used to frost.

Taas on aika vuodesta, jolloin laiturit on tyhjiä ja veneet talvisäilössä pressun alla.

It's again time of year when the docks are empty, and the boats are in winter storage under tarpaulins.

Joku uskalikko on käynyt luistimilla (?) jäällä.

Some daredevil has gone on skates (?) on the ice.

Avantoon, kylmään veteen. On terveellistä, mutta jätän väliin.

He's going to the hole in the ice, to swim in the cold water. It's healthy, but I'll skip it.

 

Raketteja ja lunta / Rockets and snow

 

Miellyttävää uutta vuotta 2025 näiden rantakalliolla ammuttujen rakettien kera.

Ei ollut vielä lunta eikä ollut kovin kylmäkään. Hyvä sää raketin ampujille.

There was no snow yet, and it wasn't too cold. Good weather for rocket shooters.

Saatiinkin sitten lunta ihan vuoden ensimmäisenä päivänä.

Then we got snow on the very first day of the year.
