Vesieste / Water barrier

 

Vesieste. Onneksi tuossa sivulla on kuiva kaistale, jota pitkin pääsi läpi.

Yöt pakkasella, aamut vielä liukkaita, mutta päivällä lumi sulaa, lämpöä ollut jopa 6-8 C.

Water barrier. Fortunately, there is a dry strip on the edge along which I got through.

Aurinko lämmittää / The sun is melting

Hauska näky lenkillä. Auto on varmasti seissyt tässä monet lumisateet, 

mutta nyt aurinko sulattaa, on jo puolet lumesta hävinnyt.

Tuli takaa kuin tornaado, tämä vauhtiukko (pelottavia ohituksia). 

No, äkkiotolla sain myös laskevan auringon värittämän punaisen taivaankin kuvaan.

PS. Meille satoi vähän lisää lunta ja kaikki jäiset tiet on nyt lumen alla.

This guy came from behind at a very high pace (scary).

Vielä kerta jäällä / Once again on ice

 

Viikonloppuna jäälläkävelyä. Jään paksuus on n. 40 cm (mikä näkyy pilkkijöiden avannoista), eli se kantaa vielä hyvin. Mikä siinä on, että veden lähellä asuvat ihmiset tykkäävät kävellä jäällä (minä myös), 

vaikka periaatteessa se on yksitoikkoista, tasaisella aavalla talssimista.

Weekend ice walking. The thickness of the ice is about 40 cm (you can see it from holes in the ice of anglers), which means that it still carries well. Many people like to walk on ice (me too), although in principle it is a monotonous, flat open walk.

Jään pinta on vain ohuen kovan lumen peittämää tai osin täysin kirkasta jäätä. 

Tuonne ei ollut asiaa, vaan kävelin rannan tuntumassa, jossa oli vähän enempi lunta.

Tämän "kalliomaalauksen" näkee vain mereltä, eli talvella jäällä tai sitten kesällä veneestä. 

Ei ole suuri taide, mutta kuvastaa nykyajan suuntausta.

Liukasta, lunta ja aurinkoa / Slippery, snow and sunny

Lumikasat on vielä paikoitellen mahtavat, eikä ne taida sulaa hetkessä.

The piles of snow are still awesome in places, and they don't seem to melt in an instant.

Yöllä pakkasta, päivällä pikkuisen lämpöasteita. Ja tätä jatkuu...

Liukasta. On ennenkin ollut liukkaita talvia, mutta sentäs teitä on hiekoitettu. 

Nyt hiekka-autoja ei näy missään. Ihmiset liukastelee ja osa jättää ehkä ulkoilemisenkin.

Slippery. There have been slippery winters before, but the streets have been sanded.

Now sand cars don’t show up anywhere. People slip and some don’t go out at all.

Sulaa se sittenkin - jossain kohdin. Taitaa olla talvella aurattu pyöräkaista, joka sulaa nyt nopeammin.

There is probably a bike lane that was plowed in the winter and now melts faster.

Tämä jäinen ylämäki tuli yllättäen vastaan. 

Ei ollut toivoakaan kävellä sitä pitkin, vaan piti talloa sivussa lumihangessa.

This icy uphill came unexpectedly. There was no hope of walking along it,

I had to walk in the snow on the side of the road.

Vielä riittää lunta, mutta kun lämpötila on jo päivisin noin 1-3 C, niin eiköhän tuo kohta sula.

Kivenlahden tunnelin ylle on ilmestynyt Ukrainan lippu. 

Toivottavasti Ukrainassakin näkyisi pian valoa tunnelin toisessa päässä.

Luen suurella surulla ja kauhulla uutisia Ukrainan sodasta. 

Sympatiani on Ukrainan ihmisten puolella, jotka äkillisesti saivat hirvittävän sodan päällensä. 

A flag of Ukraine has appeared over our tunnel.

I read with great sadness and horror the news of the war in Ukraine. 

My sympathy is on the side of the people of Ukraine, who suddenly got into a terrible war. 

Pieni punainen / Small red cottage

Taustalla on uudet korkeat tornitalot. Pieni punainen mökki on minigolfradalla.

Päivänä, jolloin oli kaunista. 

Säävaihtelut on niin nopeita, että tämäkään kuva ei enää vastaa todellista lumitilannetta.

In the background are new tall tower blocks. The small red cottage is on the minigolf course.

Valkoista ihanuutta / White wonderland

Saimme elää kaksi päivää kuin satumaailmassa. 

Ja kun eilen vielä aurinko tuli esiin, niin ei voi kuin ihastella. 

Kävelin ympäri Espoonlahtea liki 3 tuntia ihmetellen maiseman kauneutta.

We got to live for two days like in a snowy wonderland. 

And when the sun came up yesterday, everything was even better. 

I walked around the hometown for almost 3 hours and admired the landscapes.

Lunta tuli vuorokaudessa 25 cm, eli me hukutaan taas lumeen. (0...-1 °C).

The snow came 25 cm a day, which means we will drown in the snow again.

Liukkaat kelit / Slippery weather

 

On lievä talvimasennus - tai oikeastaan talven loppumasennus. 

On jäätä ja huippuliukasta, sohjoa ja lätäköitä sekä ajotiet täynnä kuoppia. Toisinaan sataa ja toisinaan sitten ei. Ulos ei viitsi mennä muuta kuin tehdäkseen pakolliset kauppareissut tms. Kurjuutta.

I have a mild winter depression - or actually the end of winter depression. Outside there is ice and slippery, slush and puddles as well as driveways full of bumps. Sometimes it rains and sometimes it doesn’t. It would not bother to go out other than mandatory trade trips etc. Misery.

Aina ei ole niin kiva talvisää, nytkin sataa pientä jäistä tihkua, vaikka lämpötila on 0...+1 °C. 

On hienoa, että jalkakäytävät on aurattu, mutta samalla on syntynyt valtavat lumikasat. 

Kestää aika kauan, ennen kuin ne sulaa, tai sitten kuskattu lumenkaatopaikoille.

It's not always so nice winter weather, even now it rains a little icy drizzle. The temperature is 0...+1°C.

It’s great that the sidewalks have been plowed, but at the same time there have become huge snow piles.

It takes quite a long time for them to melt or are taken to a some snow collection pile.
