Suolla / In the swamp

 

Paikallinen ystäväni vei minut lenkkipolulle suolle, Riihimäen laitamille.

Oli ihana kokemus, ensin metsää pitkin, joka oli kuin sadusta, sitten tuli suo, pitkospuut ja suolammet.

My local friend took me on a jogging path to the swamp, on the outskirts of Riihimäki.

It was a wonderful experience, first through the forest, which was like a fairy tale,

then there was a swamp, long trees and swamp ponds.

Ilmat on viilenneet, eli on melkein kylmä (+7 °C). Mutta on vain puettava enemmän vaatetta.

The weather has cooled, so it's almost cold (+7 °C). But you just have to wear more clothes.

Tämä ei ole enää suolla, vaan olemme lähellä olevalla vesikuopalla.

This is no longer in the swamp, but we are at a nearby water hole.

Patikointia / Hiking

 

Kuntoportaissa on n. 165 askelmaa, ne nousin nyt ensimmäisen kerran (jaksoin, hyvä minä).

Täältä ylhäältä löysin lyhyen luontopolun.

The fitness stairs have approx. 165 steps, I climbed them for the first time.

Up here I found a short nature trail.

Luonto on alkanut vihertää nopeasti, kun on ollut lämmintä, tänäänkin +19 °C.

Nature has started to turn green quickly, as it has been warm, today too +19 °C.

Polku päättyi kallion huipulle.

The trail ended at the top of the cliff.

Kalliomaalausta? / Rock painting?

Sinivuokkoja oli paikoin tosi paljon, mutta en saanut niitä kuvaan onnistuneesti.

There were a lot of blue anemones (hepaticas)  in some places, but I didn't get a good picture of them.

Vanhojen autojen paraati / Parade of old cars

Vapun päivän toinen paraati oli vanhat autot.

The second parade on First of May was the old cars.

Autot ajoivat letkassa edestakaisin pääkatua pitkin. Oli kiva katsoa erilaisia autoja.

Cars drove back and forth along the main street. It was nice to see different cars.

Tässä kaksi suosikkiani. / Here are two of my favorites.

Autot oli tarkoituksella jätetty näin vanhan ja kunnostamattoman näköisiksi, kertoi eräs mies.

These cars were deliberately left looking so old and unrenovated, said one man.

Eräs auto kaasutti tahallaan, ja sai aikaan mahtavan häkäpilven.

One car gassed on purpose, and created a great cloud of carbon monoxide.

Prätkäparaati / The motorcycle parade

 

Vuosikymmenten perinne toi prätkät ja vanhat autot Riihimäelle vappupäivänä. 

Ensin ajoivat prätkät. Niitä oli kuulemma reilusti yli 200 ajokkia. 

Ne ajoivat edestakaisin pitkin kaupungin pitkää pääkatua,

A decades-old tradition brought motorcycles and old cars to Riihimäki on May Day. 

Motorcycles drove first. They say there were well over 200 drivers.

They drove back and forth along the long main street of the city. 

Meteli on kova, mutta oli tosi kiva katsoa ajokkien menoa, jota kesti yli tunnin verran.

The commotion is loud, but it was really nice to watch the drivers go by, which lasted for over an hour.

Väkeä oli kokoontunut pitkin kadun vartta. Nyt vasta näin tosi paljon ihmisiä täällä.

People had gathered along the side of the street. Maybe all the Riihimäki people had come out.
