Vielä kerta lunta / Once more snow

 

Muistelen viikon takaista aikaa, jolloin talvi näyttäytyi sellaisena kuin talven pitäisi olla. Mutta nyt on ollut hieman lämpöasteita ja lunta on enää jäljellä likaisissa kasoissa ja sohjoisilla, liukkailla jalkakäytävillä sekä nurmikoilla jne. Inhoittavaa. Toivottavasti saamme kuitenkin etelä-Suomeen valkoisen joulun, mikä olisi välttämätöntä, jotta joulupukki pääsisi liikkumaan porojen vetämällä reellä.

I remember a week ago, when winter was as it should be. But now it's been a bit warmer and all the snow is left is in dirty piles and on slushy, slippery sidewalks and on lawns etc. Disgusting. Hopefully we'll still get a white Christmas in Southern Finland, which would be necessary for Santa Claus to be able to move around on a sleigh pulled by reindeer.

Kuplahallin loppu / The end of the bubble hall

 

Olin sunnuntaina katsomassa Leevin futismatsia Espoolahden kuplahallissa.

On Sunday, I was watching Leevi's soccer match in the Espoolahti bubble hall.

Hallin tekonurmella junnuilla on harjoituksia ja siellä myös pelataan otteluita.

On the hall's artificial turf, the juniors have trainings, and matches are also played there.

Maanantaina iski raju lumimyrsky. Lunta tuli sakeana koko päivän niin paljon, että sitä oli pudotettava kuplan päältä. Mutta painoa oli silti liikaa ja kupla romahti. Onneksi sisällä ei ollut ketään, olivat varmuuden vuoksi ennakkoon peruneet kaikki treenit. Tänään kävelin katsomaan tuhoa.

On Monday, a violent snowstorm hit. It had snowed so much that it had to be dropped from the top of the bubble. But there was still too much weight and the bubble collapsed. Fortunately, there was no one inside, all training had been canceled in the morning just in case. Today I walked to see the destruction.

Iloinen avantouimari / Happy winter swimmer

 

Taas on se aika vuodesta, kun talviuimarit pääsee avantoon uimaan. Pakkasta jotain -6 °C. 

Tämä ei ole minun juttu, palelen jo ajatustakin mennä veteen. Mutta kieltämättä kylmässä uimimisella on paljon hyviä terveysvaikutuksia - sanovat he jotka tietävät.

It's that time of the year again when winter swimmers can go to swim in hole in the ice. 

Freeze was about -6 °C. This is not my thing, I'm already freezing at the thought of going into the water. But without a doubt, swimming in the cold has many good health effects - say those who know.

Aurinkoinen talvipäivä / Sunny winter day

 

Kauan kaivattu aurinko paistoi ja aamuinen usva verhosi hetken maiseman. Lunta on tullut paljon ja olo oli kuin jouluisessa satumaassa. Toivottavasti kestää kauemmin kuin yhden päivän... 

Hyvin tarkeni, pakkasta vain -6 C. Täytyy vain pukeutua oikein.

The long-awaited sun was visible throughout the short day and the short morning mist made the landscape mysterious. It has snowed a lot and the landscape is like a Christmas fairy tale. I hope this weather lasts more than one day...

It wasn't cold even though it was -6 C. You just have to dress warmly.

Kivenlahden metroasema / Kivenlahti subway station

Kauan odotettu Länsimetron loppuosa avattiin lauantaiaamuna (3.12.2022) klo n. 5.00. 

Itse olin tuolla vasta puoliltapäivin. 

The long-awaited final section of West metro was opened on Saturday morning (3.12.2022) at approx. 5:00 am. I wasn't there until mid-afternoon. 

Kivenlahden asema on tosi kaunis.

Kivenlahti station is really beautiful.

Asemia tuli yhteensä viisi uutta, eli minulla on vielä tutkittavana neljä asemaa.

There were five new stations, which means I still have four to explore.

Iltakävelyllä / Evening walk

On pimeää (jo iltapäivästä), on koleaa... 

Jouluvalot ikkunoissa merkitsee joulun lähestymistä (ja sähkölaskun korotusta - jollei ole LED-valot).

It's dark (since the afternoon), it's chilly - almost  very cold...

Christmas lights in the windows mean Christmas is approaching

(and an increase in the electricity bill - if there are no LED lights).

 

Kivenlahden metro

 

Vielä on hiljaista. Mutta kohta, lauantaina 3.12. on kuhinaa, kun Länsimetro aloittaa kulkunsa aikaisin aamulla meille asti. Kivenlahden asema on päätepysäkki. Uusia asemia tulee viisi seitsemän kilsan matkalle. 

Olemme "odottaneet" tätä 5 vuotta.

It's still quiet. But soon on Saturday 3.12. there will be movement when the West Metro starts early in the morning its journey to us. Kivenlahti station is the terminus. There will be five new stations on a 7-kilometer journey. We have been "waiting" for this for 5 years.

Kun länsimetro valmistui viisi vuotta sitten puoleen väliin, jouduimme kulkemaan bussi-metro -systeemillä, ja matka-aika saattoi olla jopa 45-55 min. Nyt, jos onni on, kuten minulla, kun asema on ihan naapurissa, ettei tarvitse käyttää syöttöliikennettä, vaan pääsee yhdellä istuimella suoraan Hesaan, on matka-aika kuulemma 30 min (etäisyys 20 km). Ehkä tulee helpommin liikuttua väliasemillekin tai Itä-Helsinkiin. Saas nähdä sitten. Mutta koeajoa en varmaan mene tekemään heti ensimmäisinä päivinä.

When the Länsimetro was half-finished five years ago, we had to use the bus-metro system, and the travel time could be as long as 45-55 minutes. Now if you're lucky, like me because the station is near, that you don't have to use feeder traffic  but can get directly to Helsinki centrum in one seat, the travel time is said to be 30 min (the distance is 20 km). Maybe now it will be easier to move to intermediate stations or to Eastern Helsinki. It will be see. But I probably won't go for a test drive in the first few days.

Tilanne / Situation

 

En ole mikään lintukuvaaja, mutta tilanne talipallojen ympärillä oli aika metka. Siinä oli monta lintua yhtäaikaa, mutta vain yhdestä onnistuin saamaan edes jonkinmoisen kuvan. Tämän ilme on mielestäni aika hupaisa.

I'm not a bird photographer at all, but the situation around the tallow balls was pretty funny. There were many birds in it at the same time, but I managed to get even a kind of picture of only one. I think this look is pretty funny.

Lunta! / Snow!

 

Saatiin lunta etelään. Eli ensilumi tuli rytinällä, ja lisää tulee (kunnes viikon kuluttua sulaa pois).

We got the first snow in southern Finland and more will come (until it melts away in a week).

Lumi kuuletko.. kielletty parkkeeraamasta.

Snow, can you hear.. forbidden to park.

Vaikka on vain –2 C, niin alkutalvi tuntuu aina todella kylmältä. 

Keväällä sama lämpötila on jo lähes hellettä.

Nyt on samat vaatteet päällä kuin talvella tosi pakkasella.

Even though it's only –2 C, early winter always feels very cold. 

In spring, the same temperature is already almost hot.

Now I'm wearing the same clothes as in winter when it's really cold.

Keilaniemi 3 – Heijastuksia / Reflections

Täällä on paljon lasipintaisia rakennuksia, joissa heijastus näkyy auringon paistaessa.

There are a lot of glass-fronted buildings here, where you can see the reflection when the sun shines.
