Matka Sveitsiin alkaa / Trip to Switzerland

Lennän huomenna lauantaina Sveitsiin tyttären Virven luo pariksi viikoksi. Oli viikon varoitusaika, eli oli todellinen pikalähtö. On tosi kiva juttu nähdä heidät kaikki, sillä on kulunut jo kai kolme vuotta kun viimeksi olin siellä. 

Vähän jännittää taas tuo lentäminen, tai tarkemmin sisäänkirjautuminen kentällä. Ja pakkaaminen on tylsää, nykyään on vaatteiden ja tuliaisten lisäksi muistettava kaiken maailman johdot ja laturit. Takuulla jotain unohtuu.

Tomorrow, Saturday, I'm flying to Switzerland to visit my daughter Virve for a couple of weeks. It was a week's notice, so it was a real quick departure. It's really nice to see all of them, because it's been ab. three years since I last visited them. 

I'm a little nervous about flying, or more precisely, checking in at the airport. And packing is boring, these days, in addition to clothes and souvenirs, you also have to remember all the cables and chargers. You're bound to forget something.

Kun palaan, niin täällä  taitaa olla ruska täydessä värissä. 

Mielenkiintoista nähdä millainen syksy on Sveitsissä.

When I'll return, I think the autumn colors will be here in their full glory. 

It will be interesting to see what it looks like in Switzerland.

Syksyn tuntua / The feeling of autumn

 

Siellä täällä näkyy jo syksyn värejä. Ja tuntuukin niin syksyltä - on jo kylmä (11 °C).

Here and there, the colors of autumn are already visible. 

And it feels like autumn - it's already cold (11 °C).

Kun on tuuleton paikka, ja aurinko lämmittää, niin ei tässä palele.

When the place is windless and the sun is warming, it is not cold here.

Mitä löysin metsässä / What I found in the forest

 

Eilisellä retkellä löysin tietenkin sieniä. En syö sieniä, mutta kärpässienen toki tunnen, sitä ei saa syödä. Mutta sienet oli jo vanhoja enkä edes tiedä, joskos noi muut oli edes syötäviä. 

Ihmiset kerää aivan toisenlaisia syötäviä sieniä.

Of course, I found mushrooms on yesterday's hike. I don't eat mushrooms, but I know the fly agaric, you can't eat it. But these mushrooms were already old and I don't know if those others were even edible. People collect completely different kinds of edible mushrooms.

Täällä ei ollut polkuja, eikä risukossa ollut kiva kävellä.

There were no paths here, and it wasn't nice to walk in the brushwood.

Löysimme puolukoita. Harmi vaan ettei ollut astiaa mukana, mihin olisimme niitä keränneet. 

Mutta ne maistuivat hyviltä syödä suoraan suuhun.

We found lingonberries. We regretted that we didn't have a container to collect them in.

But they tasted good to eat straight into your mouth.

The forests of Finland are wonderful, you can pick berries such as blueberries, lingonberries, cloudberries, raspberry and various mushrooms etc. 

You can pick anywhere (every man's right) but not from someone else's yard.

Alkoi satamaan, emmekä halunneet kävellä, joten katsoimme bussireittiä ja aikatauluja, 

jolla pääsisi lähimmälle metroasemalle (Tapiola).

It started to rain and we didn't want to walk again, 

so we looked at the bus route and schedule to get to the nearest metro station (Tapiola).

Eräs retki Espoossa / An excursion in Espoo

 

Viikonloppuna oli syyskuvausretki. Menimme julkisilla Laaksolahteen, jonne olisi autolla 12 km...

Kokoontuminen oli Soukan Metroasemalla (jonne minä olin tullut Kivenlahdesta).

There was an autumn photoshoot excursion over the weekend. We took public transport to Laaksolahti, 

which would be 12 km away by car... The meeting was at Soukka Metro Station.

Soukan torilla on  hieno suihkulähde.

There is a nice fountain in Soukka Market Square.

Matka jatkui Metrolla Aalto yliopistolle. / The journey continued by Metro to Aalto University.

Täältä matka jatkui Pikaraitiovaunulla. Tämä on linja, 

mikä kulkee nopealla vauhdilla Itä-Länsisuunnassa. Oli minun eka kerta kyseisessä ratikassa.

From here the journey continued on the Light Rail. This is a line that runs at high speed in an East-West direction. This was my first time in that Rail.

Perillä kävelimme pitkästi kohteeseen eli Laajalahden Turvesuon luonnonsuojelualueelle.

Once there, we walked a long way to our destination, the Laajalahti Turvesuo nature reserve.

Perillä. / We made it.

Ei tämä luonnonsuojelualue ihan vastanut odotusta. Ensi postauksessa laitan mitä tuolta löysin.

This nature reserve didn't quite live up to expectations. In the next post I'll post what I found there.

Suojatie / Crosswalk

Meillä riehuu syysflunssakausi ja tietenkin minä sellaisen sain. Viikko meni pelkästään olemiseen ja nukkumiseen. Onneksi olin jo lähes kunnossa, kun kotiini tuli asunnonnäyttö. Oli lähdettävä ulos, eli oli mun eka päivä ulkona. En kuitenkaan jaksanut vielä lähteä kauemmaksi kuin lähikahvilaan puoleksi tunniksi. 

Siinä istuskelin kamera vahdissa, joskos tapahtuisi jotain ikuistettavaa. 

Ei mitään dramaattista, joten otin kadun ylityksistä kuvia. 

Ja ei, asuntoni ei mennyt kaupaksi. Katsoja oli sijoittaja, joka ei tarjoa kovin hyvää hintaa.

We have a flu season in full swing and of course I got one. I spent the week just being and sleeping. 

Luckily I was almost fine when a half-hour apartment viewing came to my apartment. 

I had to leave the house, it was my first day out. 

However, I didn’t have the energy to go further than the local café. There I sat with my camera on guard in case something worth capturing happened. Nothing dramatic, so I took pictures of the street crossings. 

And no, my apartment hasn’t sold yet. The viewer was an investor who didn’t offer a very good price.

 

Sataa vääränä päivänä / Raining on the wrong day

 

Viikonloppuna oli Espoo-päivät, tapahtumia oli kymmenittäin eri puolilla Espoota. Meillä oli rannalla musiikkia koko päivän ym. mukavaa. Mutta sattui olemaan sateinen viikonloppu. Ja sehän tiesi sen, ettei ihmisiä ollut liikkeellä. Se oli sääli niitä tapahtumia kohtaan, jotka pidettiin ulkotiloissa (kuten nämä meillä).

The weekend was Espoo Days, there were dozens of events in different parts of Espoo. We had music on the beach all day and other nice things. But it happened to be a rainy weekend. And that meant that there were no people out and about. It was a shame for the events that were outdoors (like these we had).

Riihimäki ja asunnon myyntiajatuksia / Riihimäki and thoughts about selling my home

Olen muutaman kerran ajellut Riksuun, ihan vain katsomaan, voisinko sittenkin asua siellä. Onhan se pieni kaupunki, mutta viehättävä, ja kaikki palvelut on kävelymatkan päässä. Ja Helsinkiin on puolen tunnin välein kulkeva juna (55 min/65 km - ja jos vielä haluan jatkaa Hesasta Kivenlahteen, niin Metro 30 min/20 km). Tai autolla 1 tunti/85 km Kivenlahteen.

Olen nimittäin myymässä kotiani. Linjasaneerauksen takia otettu taloyhtiön laina oli muutama miljoona euroa, ja tuli asuntoni osalta niin kalliiksi, etten pärjää. Nyt on huono aika myydä, koska on lama ja asuntoja on myynnissä paljon, mutta koitan kuitenkin. 

Menen sitten vuokralle. Se on uutta minulle, sillä en ole koskaan asunnut vuokra-asunnossa. Riihimäellä on edullisemmat vuokrat kuin täällä Espoossa. 

Tätä mietin samalla kun puran pikkuhiljaa kotiani. Ts. tsekkailen irtotavaroita, laitan osan myyntiin ja osan vien kierrätykseen ja osa on pakko säästää. Vielä on esim. evakkopakkauksia avaamatta, eli ovat valmiina muuttoon. Koti tuntuu tosi siistiltä, kun ei ole ”kaiken maailman” koriste-esineitä ym. joka puolella.

Voi olla, ettei mene kaupaksi. Yritin jo alkuvuodesta, mutta silloin ei ollut edes katsojia. Nyt on, mutta ne katsojat (ollut 4 kpl / 2 viikkoa) haluaa tinkiä, mihin en itse ole vielä valmis.

Isoon nälkään. / To the big hunger.

I’ve driven to Rihimäki a few times, just to see if I could live there. It’s a small town, but charming, and all services are within walking distance. And there is a train to Helsinki every half hour (55 min/65 km - and if I still want to continue from Helsinki ​​to Kivenlahti, then I’ll go by Metro 30 min/20 km). Or by car 1 hour/85 km to Kivenlahti.

I am selling my home. The loan taken out by the housing company for the line renovation was a few million euros, and my share is too much for me. Now is a bad time to sell because there’s a recession and a lot of apartments are for sale, but I’m still going to try.

Then I’m going to rent a apartment. It’s new to me because I’ve never lived in a rented apartment. Riihimäki has cheaper rents than here in Espoo.

This is what I’m thinking about as I slowly dismantle my home. That is, I’m checking out the loose items, putting some up for sale and some for recycling, and some I have to save. A home feels really neat when ”all the world’s” decorative objects etc. aren’t everywhere.

Maybe no one will buy it. I tried at the beginning of the year, but there weren't any viewers then. Now there are, but those viewers (there have been 4 in 2 weeks) want to compromise, which I'm not ready for yet.

Syksy saapuu / Autumn is almost here

Syksy on tullut. Äkkiä ne helteet väistyi ja nyt on pakko pukea enempi ylle (16–18 °C). 

Mutta nämä on oikein kivoja ulkoiluilmoja. Ja kestää vielä muutaman kuukauden ennen talven tuloa.

Autumn has arrived. Suddenly the heat has subsided and now I've to wear more clothes (16–18 °C).

But this is really nice weather for outdoor activities. And it will be a few more months before winter comes.

Varma merkki syksystä on punaiset pihlajanmarjat.

A sure sign of autumn are red rowan berries.

Ruusuista on jäljellä punaiset marjat.

The roses have red berries left.

Tyrnimarjat on jo ylikypsiä.

The sea buckthorn berries are definitely overripe.

I saw one cherry tree with a few leaves already red.
