Träskändan puisto / Träskända park

 

Kävin taas Träskändan puistossa. Träskändan kartano perustettiin 1700-luvulla. Kartano on nyt upea julkisivultaan, mutta sisätiloja ei ole remontoitu, ts. ei ole vielä tietoa, mitä tälle kartanolle tehdään. 

I visited Träskända Park again. Träskända Manor was founded in the 18th century. The mansion is now magnificent in its facade, but the interior has not been renovated, i.e. there is no information yet on what will be done to this mansion.

On todella kylmä päivä auringosta huolimatta. Sormet palelee, kun ottaa kuvia.

It's a really cold day despite the sun. My fingers are freezing when I take pictures.

Venäjän keisari ja Suomen suuriruhtinas Aleksanteri II vieraili kartanossa 16.9.1861,

ja häntä varten rakennettiin kuusikulmainen käymälärakennus.

The Russian Emperor and Grand Duke of Finland Alexander II visited the mansion on 16 September 1861, and a hexagonal toilet building was built for him.

Onko oksalla jalat ...?  / Does the branch have legs...?

...eipäs olekaan, sillä nuoret käveli juuri kohdalla.

Puiston vanhin ja isoin tammi. / The oldest and largest oak tree in the park.

Kevät ei ole kaikkein kauneinta aikaa täällä. Tulen uudelleen kesällä.

Spring isn't the prettiest time here. I'll come again in summer.

Pirttimäen ulkoilualue / On the nature path

 

Pitkästä aikaa luontopolulla. On tosi kylmä päivä, ja yöllä on ollut pakkasta. 

Polun varrella näkyi jäätynyttä lunta. Ja lammikot on jäähileessä.

A long time on the nature path. It's a really cold day, and it's been freezing at night.

There was some frozen snow along the path. And the ponds are covered in ice.

Ei ollut kovin paljon kävelijöitä, niin pyöräilijätkin mahtui hyvin joukkoon.

There weren't very many walkers, so cyclists could fit in easily.

Täällä joimme kahvit ja söimme tosi hyvät isot korvapuustit.

We drank coffee here and ate really good big buns.

Veteenmeno / Going into the water

 

Melkein kuin kesä, paitsi että tänään oli tosi kylmää. Joinakin vuonna tähän aikaan on ollut vielä lunta.

Almost like summer, except today it was really cold. Some years at this time there has been still snow.

Kaksi reipasta ystävätärtäni meni uimaan - kuten lähes joka päivä. Vesi oli n. 3 °C, eli tosi kylmää.

My two dashing friends went swimming - like they do almost every day. 

The water was about 3 °C, which is really cold.

No, itseasiassa he vain kastautuivat. Mutta sekin olisi minulle liikaa.

Well, actually, they were just wetting themselves. But even that would be too much for me.

Vaikka juuri nyt ei aurinko paista, niin kuitenkin kevään merkki on uimarannalle tuotu uusi hiekka.

Although the sun is not shining right now, the sign of spring is the new sand brought to the beach.

Vaihteeksi hieman kultturia. Olin kuuntelemassa puhallinmusiikkia Temppeliaukion kirkossa 

(kirjoitin kirkosta tässä) Helsingin poliisisoittokunnan soittamana. Upea ilta ja upeat puitteet.

A bit of culture for a change. I was listening to wind music in the Temppeliaukio church

(I wrote about the church tässä) played by the Helsinki Police Orchestra. Great evening and great setting.

Bussissa. Ehdin kerrankin istuutua "paraati"paikalle, ts. kuskin viereen, 

josta on kiva katsella edessä olevaa katua. 

On the bus. For once, I managed to sit down in the "parade" place, i.e. beside the driver

from where it's nice to look at the street ahead.

Olen aina ihaillut tämän baarin nimeä, kun bussi köröttelee ohi. 

Ihana, kun kaikki ei ole englanninkielisiä nimiä. Nyt ehdin kuvata, kun seisoimme punaisissa valoissa.

I've always admired the name of this bar when the bus rolls by. It's great that not all names are in English. Now I have time to take a picture when we were standing at a red light.

The name is "Thirsty Salmon".

Voiko oivaltavampaa nimeä olla kuin tämä Aussie baari. 

Tietenkin "Aussie" on nurinpäin kirjoitettu, onhan se mantere meidän jalkojen alla (kutakuinkin).

Could there be a more insightful name than this Aussie bar?

Of course, "Aussie" is spelled upside down, it's the continent under our feet (almost).

Taidehalli. Joku kerta menen jopa sisälle.

Art hall. Sometimes I even go inside.

Siellä täällä näin ihania yksityiskohtia taloissa.

Here and there I saw lovely details in the houses.

Kotikaupungissa on kiva ihan vain kierrellä ja leikkiä turistia. 

Mutta sään pitäisi olla lämpimämpi, jotta kävely olisi hauskempaa.

In my hometown, Helsinki, it's nice just to walk around and play tourist.

But the weather should be warmer so that walking would be more fun.

Helsingissä / In Helsinki

Taas pakollinen Helsingissä käynti. 

Kuvassa on entinen sotilassairaala Tilkka, jossa on nyt mm silmäsairaala.

Again a must visit in Helsinki.

Katupesua. / Time when our streets are washed from winter sand.

Helsingissä usein tuulee kylmästi (paitsi ei tietenkään kesällä), 

ja tänään oli tosi raaka tuuli, joten ei tuolla viitsinyt kovin kauan kävellä. 

It is often windy in Helsinki (except of course not in summer),

and today it was really cold windy, so I didn't feel like walking there for very long.

Suomi on jälleen valittu kahdeksannen kerran maailman onnellisimmaksi maaksi. 

Välillä ihmettelen millä perustein.

Finland has once again been chosen as the happiest country in the world for the eighth time.

Sometimes I wonder on what grounds.

Eläinmuseo. / The Zoological Museum.

Karhu parvekkeella. / The bear on the balcony.

Ukrainan presidentti Zelenskyi vieraili maassamme. Tapaaminen oli lämminhenkinen 

ja sitä tuli seurattua televisiosta.

Ukrainian President Zelensky visited our country. The meeting was warm and certainly fruitful for all kinds of relations. It was followed on TV.

Rivissä / In line

 

Kevät on tullut Helsinkiin. Skuutit on ilmestyneet katukuvaan.

Nyt nämä on vielä ojennuksessa, mutta pian sikin sokin pitkin ja poikin.

Spring has arrived in Helsinki. Scooters have appeared on the streets.

Now they are still in line, but soon they will be scattered all over the place.

Lunta satoi / It was snowing

Saatiin lunta !!! No, onneksi se sulaa pian pois, koska on taas luvattu keväistä säätä ensi viikolle.

We got some snow!!! 

Well, luckily it will melt away soon, because spring weather is promised again next week.

Normally we still have a lot of snow at this time, and it can still be in April. 

This winter has been remarkably snowless.

Meidän tiet aurataan ja suolataan heti, jolloin on taas sitä loskaa ja kuraa.

Our roads are plowed and salted immediately, and then there's slush and wet again.

Meillä on varmaan Euroopan likaisemmat autot. 

Minun auto on just pesty, mutta ei kauan pysy puhtaana. Eli enpä aio ajella vähään aikaan.

I think we probably have the dirtiest cars in Europe.

My car was just washed, but it won't stay clean for long. So I won't be driving it for a while.

 

Pikkuhiljaa / Little by little

Pikkuhiljaa jää sulaa tässä Kivenlahden edustalla. Muualla on jo avovettä.

Little by little the ice is melting here in front of Kivenlahti. 

Elsewhere there is already open water.
