Saatiin pikkasen lunta mekin. Aurinko paistoi, niin ei tuntunut kylmältä (-1 C)

Marraskuinen Helsinki / November in Helsinki

 

Mikään ei ole niin inhoittavaa kuin joutua käymään Helsingissä marraskuisena harmaana päivänä.

Myöhästyneet syyskuvat / Last photos of autumn

 

Meillä oli kaunis syksy vielä pari viikkoa sitten. Väriä oli niin oksissa kuin maassa. En vain ehtinyt kuvata kovin paljon. Ja nyt on satanut viimeisen viikon aikana, joten voi vain arvata, ettei yhtään lehteä ole enää puissa ja näkymät on tosi harmaat ja pimeät.

We had a beautiful autumn a couple of weeks ago. There was color on both the branches and the ground. 

I just didn't have time to take many pictures. And now it's been raining for the last week, so all the leaves have fallen and the landscape is really gray and dark.

Ja tämä on tätä päivää... / And this is now...

Oli toripäivä ja tietty satoi edelleen.

It was market day and it was still raining.

Katumerkinnät / Street markings

 

Sveitsi on monella tapaa kiva maa, eikä vähiten katumerkintöjen suhteen.

Ajohidastuksen kohdalla on kukkaruukku ja reunaviiva maalattu kurvaten.

Switzerland is a nice country in many ways, not least when it comes to street markings.

There is a flower pot at the deceleration zone and the edge line is painted in a curve.

Kun kävelypolku ylittää kadun, niin se merkitään keltaisilla askeleen jäljillä. Söpöä.

When the walking path crosses the street, it is marked with yellow footprints. Cute.

Onkohan muissa maissa vastaavanlaisia merkintöjä? 

Meillä Suomessa on yleensä rumat betonimöhkäleet ajohidasteina eikä lainkaan maalattuja jalanjälkiä.

I wonder if there are similar markings in other countries? 

In Finland, we usually have ugly concrete blocks as speed bumps and no painted footprints at all.

Yritin aina ohimennen kaupunkikuvausta, eli ottaa kuvia mielenkiintoisista ihmisistä tai tapahtumista.

Välillä tilanne meni nopeasti ohi, joskus onnistuin saamaan kuvan, mutta usein meni pieleen.

I always tried to take cityscapes in passing, meaning pictures of people or events.

Sometimes the situation went quick away, sometimes I managed to get a picture,

but often it went wrong.

Rakastuin Zürichiin, jossa vietimmeVirven kassa koko päivän. 

Kierrettiin vanhaa kaupunkia, mutta pian havaittiin, että koko kaupunki on "vanhaa".

I fell in love with Zurich, where we spent with Virve the whole day.

We toured the old town, but soon we discovered that the whole city is "old".

Raitiovaunuja oli paljon, niitä kulki joka suuntaan, eikä niillä aina ollut liikennevaloja. 

Ihmiset kulki tien yli melkein mistä vaan varoen ratikkaa, ja me heidän perässään.

There were a lot of trams, they went in every direction, and they didn't always have traffic lights.

People crossed the road almost everywhere, watching out for the tram, and we followed them.

Ihania kahviloita. / Lovely cafes.

Kauniita seiniä. / Beautiful walls.

Kapeita katuja ja portaita. / Narrow streets and lots of stairs.

Ja katutöitä oli joka puolella. Tämä oli kapein ja pahin.

And street works were everywhere. This was the narrowest and worst.

Oli tosi pitkä ratikka. / It was really long tram.
