Sumua ja ilta-aurinkoa /Fog and evening sun

Parin päivän huippupakkasen (-18°C) väistyttyä tuli 0-keli ja sumu. Ja lumi suli pois.

After a couple of days of peak frost (-18 °C) came 0 °C and fog. And all the snow melted away.

Sää vaihtelee nopeaan tahtiin. Eilen taivaalla näkyi jopa aurinko. Siitä oli otettava kaikki irti.

The weather is changing fast. Even the sun was visible yesterday. Everything had to be taken out of it.

Päivä on vaan niin kovin lyhyt. Jo klo 15.30 on pimeetä, kun aurinko on laskenut.

The day is just so short. It is already dark at 3.30 pm when the sun has set.

Jäällä en nähnyt pilkkijöitä, mutta kaksi retkiluistelijaa kiiti jäätä pitkin.

I didn’t see ice fishing, but two touring skaters skated along the ice.

Jään reuna on jo sulana.

Jää kestää pilkkijät /Ice lasts for ice fishing

 

Muutama päivä oli -16 C ... -18 C, jolloin ei juuri ulos viitsinyt mennä. 

Eilen alkoi lauhtumaan, ja luonto sai kauniin kuorrutuksen (kesti vain päivän). 

Ja tänään vuorostaan on vain -2 C, eikä puut ole enää valkoisia

A few days it was -16 C ... -18 C, so I didn't bother to go out. 

Yesterday it started to condense and nature got a beautiful frosting (it lasted only a day). 

And today there is only -2 C, and no trees are white any more.

Jää on kuulemma n. 10-15 cm paksu, mikä kestää siellä oleskelun (en mennyt jäälle). 

Mutta eipä juuri muita näkynyt kuin innokkaita pilkkijöitä.

The ice is reportedly about 10-15 cm thick, which lasts for a stay there (I didn't go there).

But hardly anyone other than avid ice fishing appeared.

PS. Jostain syystä en onnistu vaihtamaan tuota yläkuvaa, joten syksyinen kuva taitaa olla siellä kauan.

Tuli talvi / Winter is here

 

Pakkasta yli -13 C, pientä viimaa, meri on jäätynyt (mutta ei kanna vielä). Eli talvi tuli meillekin. 

Kumma, kun aina pitää mennä rantaan kävelemään, vaikka siellä on niin kylmä, 

ettei näpit kestä ottaa kuin muutaman kuvan.

Frost  over -13 C, light breeze, the sea is frozen (but can't stand walking yet). In other words, winter also came to us in southern Finland.  It’s so cold that your fingers can take just a few pictures.

Tänään Suomi täyttää 104 vuotta.

Hyvää Itsenäisyyspäivää kaikille.

Today, Finland is 104 years old.

Pakkasta / Freezing

Hitsi, että on kylmää, pakkasta jotain -7, ja yöllä tuplaten. Se ensilumi suli päivässä, mutta nyt on tainnut muutamana yönä sataa ihan pientä lunta. On just sopiva määrä lunta, pikkasen helpottaa siihen pimeyteen.

It's cold, freezing something -7, and doubling at night. That first snow melted in a day, but in a few nights there has been a little snowfall, so the earth looks white, just right, that the darkness is not so great.

Kotikadun putkiremppakin edistyy pikkuhiljaa.

The pipe renovation of my home street is progressing little by little.

Ensilumi / First snow

Yöllä satoi lunta, ja maa oli aamulla valkoinen. Tosin oli märkää ja liukasta. 

Ihan kiva oli saada esimakua talvesta, päiväkin oli valoisa. 

Vaikka en todellakaan toivo, että tämä lumi olisi pysyvä.

It was snowing at night and the ground was white in the morning. However, it was wet and slippery.

It was nice to get a taste of winter, the day was bright. Although I really don’t hope this snow is permanent. The temperature was something like +1 ... -0.5 ° C, not so cold.

Lapsilla on hauskaa. / Kids have fun.

Rakentaminen jatkuu / Construction continues

 

Rakentaminen tulevan kauppakeskus Lippulaivan ympärillä jatkuu. Itse kauppakeskus pitäisi avautua ensi vuoden huhtikuussa. Metro käynnistyy vuotta myöhemmin. Ja sitä ennen sadat uudet asunnot valmistuu.

Buildings will be built around the shopping center ("Pikkulaiva") which should open in April next year. The subway will launch a year later. And before that, hundreds of new homes will be completed.

Kalliolla / On the cliff

Kivenlahden rantakalliot on aina yhtä ihanat. Täällä on tullut käveltyä lukemattomat kerrat.

The cliffs of Kivenlahti are always just as wonderful. Countless times I've come here to walk.

Ei uskoisi, että n. kilometrin päässä rakennetaan tornitaloja ja myllätään katuja.

One would not believe that about a kilometer away tower towers are being built and streets are being milled.

Pilvipamaus / A Bang of cloud

 

Aurinko laskee pilven taakse. Olipas erikoinen pilvimuodostus tänä iltana.

The sun sets behind the cloud. It was a unique cloud formation tonight.

On taas se aika... / It's again the time...

 

On taas se aika, kun veneet vedetään maihin.

It is again the time when the boats are being hauled ashore for winter.

Uusiokäyttöä / Reuse

 

Maalatut metroaidat jäivät uuden rakennuksen jalkoihin, mutta niistä aitalevyistä on rakennettu uusi aita. Tosin osa niistä on työmaa-alueen sisäpuolella. Pujahdin aidan raosta katsomaan sunnuntaina, kun ei ollut raksamiehet paikalla.

The painted subway fences were demolished, but a new fence has been assembled from those fence boards. Admittedly, some of them are inside the construction site. I went from the crack of the fence to watch them on Sunday when there were no construction workers present.
