Helsingissä / In Helsinki

Taas pakollinen Helsingissä käynti. 

Kuvassa on entinen sotilassairaala Tilkka, jossa on nyt mm silmäsairaala.

Again a must visit in Helsinki.

Katupesua. / Time when our streets are washed from winter sand.

Helsingissä usein tuulee kylmästi (paitsi ei tietenkään kesällä), 

ja tänään oli tosi raaka tuuli, joten ei tuolla viitsinyt kovin kauan kävellä. 

It is often windy in Helsinki (except of course not in summer),

and today it was really cold windy, so I didn't feel like walking there for very long.

Suomi on jälleen valittu kahdeksannen kerran maailman onnellisimmaksi maaksi. 

Välillä ihmettelen millä perustein.

Finland has once again been chosen as the happiest country in the world for the eighth time.

Sometimes I wonder on what grounds.

Eläinmuseo. / The Zoological Museum.

Karhu parvekkeella. / The bear on the balcony.

Ukrainan presidentti Zelenskyi vieraili maassamme. Tapaaminen oli lämminhenkinen 

ja sitä tuli seurattua televisiosta.

Ukrainian President Zelensky visited our country. The meeting was warm and certainly fruitful for all kinds of relations. It was followed on TV.

Rivissä / In line

 

Kevät on tullut Helsinkiin. Skuutit on ilmestyneet katukuvaan.

Nyt nämä on vielä ojennuksessa, mutta pian sikin sokin pitkin ja poikin.

Spring has arrived in Helsinki. Scooters have appeared on the streets.

Now they are still in line, but soon they will be scattered all over the place.

Lunta satoi / It was snowing

Saatiin lunta !!! No, onneksi se sulaa pian pois, koska on taas luvattu keväistä säätä ensi viikolle.

We got some snow!!! 

Well, luckily it will melt away soon, because spring weather is promised again next week.

Normally we still have a lot of snow at this time, and it can still be in April. 

This winter has been remarkably snowless.

Meidän tiet aurataan ja suolataan heti, jolloin on taas sitä loskaa ja kuraa.

Our roads are plowed and salted immediately, and then there's slush and wet again.

Meillä on varmaan Euroopan likaisemmat autot. 

Minun auto on just pesty, mutta ei kauan pysy puhtaana. Eli enpä aio ajella vähään aikaan.

I think we probably have the dirtiest cars in Europe.

My car was just washed, but it won't stay clean for long. So I won't be driving it for a while.

 

Pikkuhiljaa / Little by little

Pikkuhiljaa jää sulaa tässä Kivenlahden edustalla. Muualla on jo avovettä.

Little by little the ice is melting here in front of Kivenlahti. 

Elsewhere there is already open water.

Ilta-aurinko / Evening sun

Jäät on lähes sulaneet. Tänä vuonna on kummallinen talvi. 

Normaalisti olisi vielä paljon lunta ja pakkasta. 

Olemme nyt jotain 1-1,5 kk etuajassa kevääseen.

The ice has almost melted. It's a strange winter. 

Normally there would still be a lot of snow and frost.

We are now at least 1-1,5 months early to spring.

Kevättä ilmassa / Spring in the air

Vettä on satanut ja lähes kaikki lumi on sulanut, joten on ollut myös sumuista. 

Ja kun aurinko joskus näyttäytyy, on siitä otettava kaikki irti. 

Kunhan on oikeat vaatteet päällä, niin ei palele. Lämpöä on n. 0...+3 °C.

It has rained and almost all the snow has melted. So it's also been foggy.

And when the sun shows up sometimes, you have to make the most of it. 

As long as you have the right clothes on, you won't be cold. The temperature is about 0...+3 °C.

Jäällä näkyy hauskoja kuvioita, kun se sulaa. Todennäköisesti tämä on lopullinen sulaminen.

Funny patterns appear on the ice as it melts. Most likely this will be the final melt.

Haukilahden rannalla / Winter beach

On vain hieman lunta, mutta pakkanen kiristyy. On jo melkein tottunut 0-keliin. 

Rannalla on tosi kylmää, kun siellä aina vähän tuulee tuulee. (-8 °C).

Tämä ranta oli jo avoin, mutta pakkanen jäädytti sen uudestaan.

There is only a little snow, but the frost is getting worse. I was already almost used to 0 degrees.

It's really cold on the beach, when there's always a little wind. (-8 °C).

This beach was already open, but the frost froze it again.

Konttikahvilassa saa kuumaa juotavaa.

You can buy hot drinks at the container café.

Jäätä / Ice

Kivan näköistä pintajäätä. / Nice looking ice surface.

Auringonlasku pitkästä aikaa / Sunset for a long time

Taas vaihteeksi puoli päivää aurinkoa, josta seurasi upea auringonlasku. 

Oli ihana kävellä illalla rantatietä pitkin ja ihailla aina niin tuttuja maisemia.

Half a day of sunshine, followed by a magnificent sunset.

It was lovely to walk along the beach road in the evening and admire the ever so familiar scenery.

 

Hyökyvuoren pysäköintihalli-valmis #10 / Parking garage-Finished

Pysäköintitalo on viimein valmis. Se luovutettiin kaupungille perjantaina 7.2.25. 

Ei siitä mikään kaunis tullut.

The parking garage is finally finished. 

It was handed over to the City of Espoo on Friday, February 7, 2025.

Nothing beautiful came of it.

Päätyseinät ovat betonielementtiä, julkisivu ja takaosa on reiällistä levyä, josta valo pääsee läpi.

Koristeena (?) säleikköä ja puupanelia. Tuolla edessä on minun kotitalo.

The end walls are concrete elements, the facade and the back part is a perforated plate through which light can pass through. As decoration (?) grille and wooden panel. There is my home in front.

Tässä on n. 360 autopaikkaa. Ja sen on tarkoitus olla uusille tornitaloille (joita ei ole vielä aloitettu rakentamaan) ja heille, joiden autopaikat aikanaan häviää rakentamisen seurauksena. Eli me emme saa paikkaa, mutta meillä on oma parkkihalli hieman kauempana saman kadun varrella. Tällä kadulla on nyt 4 parkkihallia ja kaksi matalaa avopaikkaa.

There are about 360 parking spaces here. And it is intended to be for new tower blocks (which have not yet started construction) and for those whose parking spaces will eventually be lost as a result of construction. So we will not get a space, but we have our own parking garage a little further along the same street. There are now 4 parking garages and two low open spaces on this street.

Vuoden tämä rakentaminen kesti. Nyt vain tuijotamme rumaa taloa,

ja muistelemme sitä vihreyttä, joka hävitettiin.

It took a year to build this. Now we just stare at the ugly house 

and remember the greenery that was destroyed.

Vaihtelevaa säätä / Varied weather

 

Saatiin pikkupakkasta ja vähän luntakin. No, se siitä auringonpaisteesta.

We got again a little frost and also a little snow. We can say goodbye to the sun for a while again.

Meri jäätyi hieman ja lumi kinostui hauskasti läikykkäästi.

The sea froze slightly and snow piled up funny way on the ice.

Aurinkoinen päivä / Sunny day

Oli yksi aurinkoinen päivän monien harmaiden keskellä. 

Meri on jäistä vapaa ja oli ihana tunne, kun näki värejä. 

In the midst of many gray days, there was one sunny day.

The sea is already free of ice and it was a wonderful feeling to see colors.
